University of Surrey and IIHS Multiversity Team Up for Nursing Education in Sri Lanka

    • The University of Surrey and Sri Lanka's IIHS launched a BSc (Hons) Nursing Studies (Top-Up) program to grant Sri Lankan nursing students a direct path to a global nursing degree.
    • This partnership promotes joint program delivery, faculty and student exchanges, and continuing professional development to elevate nursing education in Sri Lanka.
    • The collaboration enhances professional opportunities for Sri Lankan nurses and aligns with global healthcare workforce development.

The University of Surrey has partnered with the International Institute of Health Sciences Multiversity (IIHS) to introduce the BSc (Hons) Nursing Studies (Top-Up) programme, providing Sri Lankan students with a direct route to a universally recognised nursing qualification.

This partnership allows students who have earned the IIHS Advanced Diploma in Nursing to continue with a full honours degree offered by the University of Surrey. It is designed to enhance nursing education, professional growth, and global healthcare. The collaboration also involves joint programme delivery, exchange of faculty and students, and continuing professional development courses for international learners.

In addition, Surrey's School of Psychology is investigating articulation routes for its BSc Psychology and MSc Psychology Conversion courses, possibly to be offered as an MSci.

IIHS's Advanced Diploma in Nursing equips students with strong training in clinical practice, patient care management, and evidence-based healthcare in core subjects of anatomy, pharmacology, and mental health nursing.

IIHS CEO Dr. Kithsiri Edirisinghe commended the collaboration for opening students' career prospects to the world, whilst Surrey's Professor Roberto La Ragione underlined its significance in the professional education of healthcare professionals. Dr. Shelini Surendran further noted that Sri Lanka's increasing reputation as a regional education center guarantees that students from Asia can gain access to quality UK healthcare education via IIHS.
The partnership confirms both institutions' dedication to providing top-notch nursing education and facilitating workforce development in healthcare.
