IIHS and NSB Partner to Boost Access to Healthcare Education

    • IIHS and NSB have partnered to provide student loans, enhancing access to healthcare education across Sri Lanka.
    • NSB’s nationwide network will offer financing to students from diverse regions, supporting higher education in healthcare.
    • The partnership focuses on globally recognized programs, boosting career opportunities and strengthening the healthcare workforce.

The International Institute of Health Sciences (IIHS) has joined hands with the National Savings Bank (NSB) to make healthcare education more accessible in Sri Lanka. The partnership, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding, will provide student loan facilities to support those enrolling in IIHS programs.

Under this initiative, NSB will use its wide branch network to offer education financing to students across the country, including those from rural and underserved regions. The move aims to reduce financial barriers and ensure that more students can pursue higher education in healthcare.

IIHS offers a range of programs, including Nursing, Physiotherapy, Biomedical Sciences, Nutrition, and Sports Science. Many of these courses provide globally recognized qualifications, allowing students to build international careers while studying locally.

Leaders from both institutions highlighted the importance of the partnership. NSB emphasized its role in supporting education and national development, while IIHS noted that the initiative would promote equal access to quality education.

The collaboration is also expected to reduce the need for students to study abroad, saving foreign exchange and strengthening Sri Lanka’s position as a regional hub for healthcare education. By improving access to education and skills training, the partnership aims to build a strong and globally competitive healthcare workforce.
