Saudi Arabia and Singapore are moving closer in the field of education. Saudi Education Minister Yousef Al Benyan met his Singaporean counterpart Desmond Lee in Singapore to discuss new partnerships in higher education, research, and technical training.
The ministers explored opportunities for collaboration between universities in both countries. Plans include curriculum development for the knowledge economy and the creation of joint research centers in areas like artificial intelligence, clean energy, and cybersecurity. Both sides also encouraged scholars to collaborate through research projects and scholarship programs.
A major focus of the talks was vocational training. Saudi Arabia’s Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC) and Singaporean institutions discussed launching joint programs in logistics, robotics, and advanced manufacturing sectors vital to future economies. Sharing best practices to align education with job market needs was emphasized.
Digital transformation and AI integration in education also featured in the discussions. Minister Al Benyan met with Singaporean university leaders to study their expertise in higher education and explore startup style innovation models for training.
