The University of Aberdeen, one of the world’s oldest universities founded in 1495, has officially opened admissions for its first campus in Mumbai, with the inaugural student intake scheduled for September 2026. This move makes Aberdeen the first Scottish university to establish a campus in India.
The new campus is being developed at Powai, with construction expected to complete before August 2026. During a recent visit, Professor Peter Edwards, Principal and Vice-Chancellor, announced the start of the development work and highlighted the university’s commitment to delivering UK-standard education locally.
To encourage early enrollment, the university has introduced the Aberdeen Pioneer Scholarship. Students who apply by January 31, 2026, and are accepted for the September intake will receive Rs 2 lakh reduction in tuition fees, directly reflected in their admission offer.

The Mumbai campus will offer undergraduate and postgraduate degrees following the same academic standards as those in the UK. Undergraduates will follow the Scottish four-year degree model, ensuring students receive a globally recognized University of Aberdeen qualification while studying in India.
With this initiative, the university aims to provide students with world-class education, practical skills, and career-ready expertise, enabling them to compete in global job markets and gain exposure to international learning methodologies without leaving India.
