Ms Vanessa Malapit, MSc, Protection and Education Group Head of the Ateneo Intellectual Property Office (AIPO), was proudly part of the first batch Patent Agents and Patent Attorneys Training Course. The Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines(IPOPHL) conducted the activity through its IP Academy in collaboration with the Bureau of Patents (BOP), Bureau of Legal Affairs (BLA), and Association of PAQE Professionals, Inc. (APPI).
Conducted at the University of the Philippines BGC Campus, this 11-day extensive training gathered 65 participants from government offices, academic institutions, and private organizations from across the Philippines. The training was created to equip them with the necessary skills and information to excel in all facets of patent services and to become IPOPHL-recognized patent agents and attorneys.
Ms Vanessa Malapit attended on behalf of AIPO, showing the office's dedication to enhancing its skillset in the area of patent protection and supporting innovation in academia and the research sectors.
The training explored a wide variety of topics ranging from patentability searches, drafting, and prosecution, to enforcement of patents. Resource speakers from IPOPHL and the wider intellectual property community imparted useful practical tips and legal mechanisms required for good patent work.
"Experiencing this with the pioneering batch has been a learning experience. It is thrilling to be able to bring this back to the university and apply it to better assist inventors and innovators", Ms Malapit said.
The Ateneo Intellectual Property Office wishes to thank IPOPHL for organizing this momentous occasion and is committed to its role in perpetuating activities that enhance intellectual property awareness, protection, and innovation all in the pursuit of national growth.
Not only was being one of the pioneering batch of the Patent Agents and Attorneys Training Course a thorough learning experience, but it was also a rewarding networking opportunity with other professionals within the Philippine IP community. AIPO is eager to utilize the know-how from this trailblazing program to further enhance its service to inventors, researchers, and institutions. In continuing to develop capacity in patent services, AIPO renews its commitment to supporting innovation and the development of intellectual property infrastructure in the country.
