- AUS and Mapei sign MoA under the Engineering Al Nukhba Program to enhance industry-ready engineering education.
- Partnership offers internships, applied research, and expert exchanges linking AUS coursework with real-world professional practice.
- Collaboration aims to boost student employability and innovation, reinforcing AUS’s mission to bridge academia and industry in the UAE.
The cooperation between American University of Sharjah and Mapei, both driven by a strong mission to develop industry-ready engineers, has been formalized through the AUS Engineering Al Nukhba Program. Mapei is a worldwide leader in products for the building industry, noted for innovative solutions and sustainability. This partnership will further provide learning outcomes with a market-oriented approach through internships, applied research, and frequent expert exchanges that reinforce clearly defined pathways from the classroom to the workplace.
The Memorandum of Agreement ties AUS coursework to professional practice. Mapei will host AUS students annually through structured internships that place learners inside active teams and laboratories. AUS faculty and Mapei specialists will co-supervise selected capstone and research projects when feasible and share technical knowledge on topics important for emerging engineers.
Both parties will make field visits to laboratories, manufacturing facilities, and project sites for students to observe the latest methods, quality systems, and safety standards in action. They will also carry out collaborative research and development projects that contribute toward solving the sector's priority challenges in the UAE.

"This collaboration is designed for outcomes you can measure in skill, in confidence and in employability by connecting our students to Mapei's teams, facilities and project environments, we are creating an applied learning loop that starts with a question on campus and ends with a solution on site", said Dr. Fadi Aloul, Dean of the AUS College of Engineering.
"We are convinced that investing in young people means investing in the future of the region and the local community. The collaboration with AUS is an important step to fostering professional and personal growth for new talents, creating a bridge between university and business", commented Giuseppe Castelli, Corporate HR and Organization Director for Mapei.
The accord has furthered the goals of the AUS Engineering Al Nukhba Program, which catalyzes targeted partnerships with leading firms across diverse sectors to better equip students with practical competencies needed in a rapidly changing job market. With a current network of 18 partners and growing, the program continues to strengthen industry collaboration and create meaningful opportunities for both students and faculty.
