BDO And HOPE Introduce Credit Card To Support Public School Classrooms

    • BDO Unibank and HOPE launch the BDO HOPE Mastercard, a co-branded credit card that channels everyday spending into social impact for education and community projects.
    • Cardholder purchases contribute directly to building public school classrooms, with PHP 5 donated to HOPE for every PHP 1,000 spent, alongside contributions from annual fees.
    • The card is eco-friendly and globally usable, made from recycled plastic, promoting sustainability while offering a PHP 10,000 welcome cashback for early applicants.

BDO Unibank, Inc. has teamed with impact organisation HOPE to introduce the BDO HOPE Mastercard, a co-branded credit card specifically designed to channel everyday spending into substantial social impact. The card is part of a nascent breed of financial products that merge consumer convenience with community development, intending to fund education and sustainability projects across the Philippines. Routine purchases made with the card will directly translate to the building of public school classrooms, thereby making ordinary financial transactions an act of tangible support for the nation's youth.

Under the terms of the partnership, BDO is committed to creating a measurable difference. For every PHP 1,000 worth of qualified spend by cardholders, the bank will donate PHP 5 to HOPE, thus ensuring that regular consumer activity translates into continuous support for education. Furthermore, a portion of the card's annual membership fees will be allocated to support HOPE's wider education programs and community projects, reinforcing the card's dual focus on financial empowerment and social responsibility.

Ma. Nannette R. Regala, Senior Vice President and Marketing Head of BDO's Consumer Banking Group, expressed the bank's commitment to youth education, citing the initiative as an avenue where each spend can help build public classrooms for Filipino children. "We look forward to empowering more communities through this partnership and spreading HOPE in Every Spend", she said while underlining the transformative potential from the integration of banking with social impact.

In line with environmental sustainability principles, the BDO HOPE Mastercard is fully made from recycled plastic. This eco-friendly feature aligns with HOPE's pledge for a net-zero plastic-waste brand and further enhances the wider ESG drive at BDO. The card also carries a 1.85% foreign exchange conversion fee, making it suitable for both local and international use while maintaining its socially responsible focus.

Nanette Medved-Po, HOPE Founder and Executive Chairperson, underscored the importance of the venture, as it enables people to contribute to national development through simple, everyday financial transactions. “What’s so exciting about this is that people can nation-build just by using their credit card”, she said, adding that its partnership with the country’s largest bank maximizes the potential for social impact.

By infusing philanthropy in a widely accessible financial tool, the BDO HOPE Mastercard enables cardholders to make a difference in education, ensure sustainable development, and help create better communities-without changing their regular spending habits. To incentivize early adopters, BDO is offering a very attractive inducement for new applicants: customers who apply for the card by 31 December 2025 and attain a minimum spend of PHP 50,000.00 will be rewarded with a PHP 10,000.00 welcome cashback.

This initiative not only furthers financial inclusion but also tightens the connection between consumer engagement and societal benefit, making the BDO HOPE Mastercard a pioneering example of banking with purpose.
