Cambodia, ADB Strengthen Skills Development and TVET Cooperation

    The Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training (MLVT) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) have strengthened their partnership to enhance technical and vocational education and training (TVET) and national skills development in Cambodia.

    Heng Sour, Minister of Labour and Vocational Training, met with Yasmin Siddiqi, ADB Country Director for Cambodia, at the ministry’s headquarters to discuss ways to make vocational training more effective and aligned with national development goals. The minister highlighted the importance of engaging the private sector in skills development, improving mechanisms for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), and updating policies to better support workforce growth.

    Siddiqi praised the longstanding collaboration between ADB and the Cambodian government, noting that joint efforts have strengthened workforce resilience, raised productivity, and improved Cambodia’s global competitiveness. She reaffirmed ADB’s commitment to provide both financial and technical support for programs in labour and vocational training, helping the ministry implement strategic initiatives aligned with the country’s development plans.

    This partnership reflects Cambodia’s focus on building a skilled workforce capable of meeting the demands of a rapidly evolving economy.     The collaboration also seeks to modernize training approaches, expand access to technical education, and ensure that skills development programs remain relevant to industry needs, ultimately preparing Cambodia’s workforce for the jobs of tomorrow.
