Present at the inauguration ceremony were Mr. Ito Naoki, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Vietnam; Deputy Minister of Education and Training Mr. Pham Ngoc Thuong; Provincial Party Committee Member, Vice Chairman of Hai Duong Provincial People's Committee Mr. Nguyen Minh Hung.
Other than the leaders and officials, those who attended were representatives of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission; the Ministry of Education and Training; the Embassy of Japan in Vietnam; the Japanese international education system; a series of former provincial leaders; and heads of a series of relevant departments, branches, and localities of the province.
On September 22, 2024, JIS Hai Duong factory began construction on an over 2-hectare land in EcoRivers urban area (Hai Duong city) of the collaboration among JIS, Ecopark Hai Duong Investment Joint Stock Company, construction contractor Vinaconex 1, Truong Thanh Construction Joint Stock Company, Vietnam Construction Investment Consulting Joint Stock Company.
Following over 7 months of uninterrupted construction, JIS Hai Duong finished the construction on items as per plan and officially opened. JIS Hai Duong is segmented into primary, secondary and high school blocks, designed with functions and décor as per age features with a total system of 100 classrooms and functional rooms. Computer science learning begins from grade 1.
The curriculum of the school is best structured to enable students to gain knowledge in good time and become proficient in 3 languages: English/Vietnamese/Japanese without the need to attend additional classes outside school hours. JIS Hai Duong provides learning for around 2,000 students. In the 2025-2026 school year, JIS Hai Duong will begin enrollment, expected to include 16 classes (grades 1 and 2 each enroll 4 classes; grades 3, 4, 5 each enroll 2 classes; grade 6 enrolls 2 classes).
During the inauguration ceremony, Mr. Ito Naoki, Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam, highlighted that Hai Duong has a good location, synchronous and modern inter-regional transport infrastructure, etc., making great appeal to foreign investors. Due to that, Hai Duong has attracted numerous Japanese investors, becoming a locality with numerous Japanese businesses in the northern part of Vietnam, contributing significantly to the global supply chain.
The inauguration ceremony of JIS Hai Duong carries deep significance in reinforcing the Vietnam Japan relationship. It is the first high school to introduce teaching and learning Japanese at primary and secondary levels in Hai Duong. Students with good language skills in Japanese, a good knowledge of Japanese manners and culture through the Japanese language program and Japanese-style educational methods at JIS Hai Duong will in the future become high-quality human resources, making Japanese businesses move to Hai Duong.
Moreover, the contemporary curriculum, profound access to technology, and cutting-edge lectures will improve employment opportunities for students of JIS Hai Duong in Japan. In JIS Hai Duong, primary school pupils will be doing their homework in school, without taking books home; 100% of the students are able to play music, swim profusely, and practice health and survival basics.
The computer science subject is studied from grade 1. Specifically, JIS Hai Duong will include artificial intelligence (AI) in the curriculum with suitable number of lessons per school year, enabling students to face and prepare for the future of the digital world.
