- Indonesia launches national internship program called Siap Kerja on October 15
- Program links fresh graduates with industry through a digital platform
- Interns to receive stipends directly via bank transfers, promoting financial inclusion
The Indonesian government is set to launch a new national internship program, Siap Kerja (Ready for Work), on October 15 to help university graduates gain practical experience and connect with industry needs. The announcement came from Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto after a cabinet meeting with President Prabowo Subianto.
The program will use an integrated digital platform where companies, including state owned enterprises, private firms, and industry associations like Kadin and Apindo, upload internship opportunities. Graduates and students can register through the platform, which links to the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology database to verify eligibility automatically.
Hartarto explained that interns will receive stipends directly transferred to their bank accounts. The government encourages using state owned banks to ensure smooth and timely payments. This initiative aims to provide graduates hands-on experience and boost their employability in a competitive job market.

Manpower Minister Yassierli highlighted that the program welcomes fresh graduates from all social backgrounds. He emphasized that Siap Kerja is not social assistance but a way to create real job opportunities, even if temporary.
This internship program is expected to bridge the gap between education and employment, helping young Indonesians prepare better for their careers by gaining relevant skills and experience from top companies.
