- Khon Kaen University (Thailand) signed an MOU with Guangxi University of Foreign Languages (China) to strengthen academic and research collaboration.
- The partnership will focus on student and faculty exchange, joint research, curriculum development, and cultural cooperation.
- Initial cooperation to begin with KKU’s Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies, Graduate School, and College of Graduate Study in Management, with plans to expand further.
Khon Kaen University (KKU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Guangxi University of Foreign Languages (GUFL), People's Republic of China. The signing ceremony was led by Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., Khon Kaen University President, and attended by university high-ups, including Assoc. Prof. Pensri Jaroenwanit, Ph.D Vice President for Student Affairs and Innovation Commercialization; Asst. Prof. Acharawan Topark-Ngarm, Ph.D, Assistant to the President for International Affairs, deans, and members of the faculty. The GUFL delegation was headed by Prof. Dr. Huang Can, Founding Vice Chairman, accompanied by university administrators, who were warmly received at the Sarasin Meeting Room, 2nd floor, Sirikunakorn Building.
President Charnchai highlighted that KKU strives to advance academic collaboration with global institutions across all aspects, such as exchanges of students and personnel, joint research, curriculum development, and people-to-people cultural relations. As of today, KKU has in excess of 30 active MOUs with Chinese institutions, and in 2025, international students at the university are mainly Chinese students with 391 students enrolled.
"This MOU is a further step in consolidating the educational and research capabilities of the two institutions, in educating students as global citizens who are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and vision of global citizens. We are going to start the initial cooperation with the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies, the Graduate School, and the College of Graduate Study in Management, and we are sure that it will be extended to other faculties and units, promoting education together in the years to come", President Charnchai stated.

Prof. Dr. Huang Can conveyed GUFL's sincere gratitude for the chance to collaborate with Khon Kaen University, one of Thailand's premier higher education institutions, as he noted. He reiterated that not only does the partnership facilitate academic knowledge sharing but also has a firm foundation for building students, staff, and researchers.
"This is the first time we are visiting Khon Kaen University, and we hope it will be the start of a closer bond which will eventually become a long-term collaboration. GUFL believes that KKU will be an excellent partner in academic and research collaboration, and together, we will encourage student exchange between the two universities to develop high-quality graduates in the future", Prof. Huang said.
GUFL is a top-ranked private university in the Guangxi Autonomous Region, which is a specialist in foreign languages and intercultural communication. It provides broad undergraduate and graduate programs in foreign languages, international business, and educational management, and has extensive cooperative relationships with international university networks across the globe.
The signing of the MOU was conducted in an amicable environment, involving representation from KKU Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies executives, Faculty of Architecture executives, Faculty of Engineering executives, Graduate School executives, and the College of Graduate Study in Management executives. The ceremony provided an opportunity to highlight past success and map future prospects, culminating in a major development of international education missions. This partnership is likely to grow into varied joint endeavors, developing education as well as research for sustainable development.
