- Mapua aims to prepare students as creators and innovators, boosting the Philippines’ presence in the international digital and creative economy
Mapua University has signed a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with gaming giant Capcom Singapore and workforce solutions provider Prime Manpower to advance education in gaming, digital content, and intellectual property (IP). The agreement was formalised on January 26 at Mapúa’s Intramuros campus in Manila, bringing together leaders from all three organisations to create a partnership that connects academic learning with real-world industry experience.
Under the partnership, Mapua will collaborate with Capcom Singapore to design academic and professional programs aligned with global standards in game development, digital media, and IP creation. Capcom, known for its globally successful game franchises, will provide industry expertise and guidance on curriculum development and training. Prime Manpower will support students by facilitating internships, career pathways, and job placements in high-growth digital sectors, helping them gain exposure to international professional opportunities.
Dr. Dodjie S. Maestrecampo, President and CEO of Mapúa University, described the MOU as a major step forward for the Philippines’ creative industries and a “bold leap into the future of the Philippine creative economy”. He emphasized that combining Mapua’s academic strength with Capcom’s industry knowledge and Prime Manpower’s global network will give students a competitive edge, preparing them to become creators and innovators rather than just consumers of digital content.

The partnership will be implemented in phases, beginning with special lectures and industry-led sessions where students will gain direct exposure to professional practices and global perspectives. Following this, academic curriculum integration will embed specialized modules aligned with current industry expectations. Future initiatives will include microcredential programs offered through Mapúa’s online platform, MapúaX, providing working professionals and enthusiasts with internationally recognized certifications in gaming and digital IP.
Prime Manpower’s role extends beyond administrative support; it will act as a bridge between students and the professional world, connecting learners with internships, career pathways, and opportunities that reflect the evolving needs of the international gaming market. This component aims to give Filipino graduates direct access to roles in a highly competitive global ecosystem.
The tripartite agreement reflects Mapúa University’s vision of transforming education to meet industry demands and support the growth of creative and tech-driven sectors in Southeast Asia. By integrating industry-validated learning into its academic framework and partnering with global leaders like Capcom, Mapúa aims to prepare students for global careers while strengthening the Philippines’ presence in the international digital economy.
