As the Middle East secures its position on the international esports map, MENATech Entertainment (part of the GGTech group), a global esports and gaming organization, is playing an instrumental role in driving the region's digital entertainment aspirations. With Saudi Arabia and the UAE at the forefront of government-driven initiatives to develop gaming into a multi-billion-dollar industry, MENATech is connecting international best practices with homegrown talent development, grassroots competitions, and partnerships.
Saudi Arabia's National Gaming and Esports Strategy estimates US$13.3 billion in economic contribution by 2030. As part of its wider 2030 economic vision, the Kingdom aims to generate 39,000 jobs in esports, fueled by mass investment and a national initiative to position Saudi Arabia as an international hub for competitive gaming. In the meantime, the UAE's Dubai Programme for Gaming 2033 hopes to make the city one of the world's top 10 gaming destinations by 2033, adding $1 billion to GDP and generating 30,000 new jobs. These programs have provided fertile soil for firms such as MENATech to expand their reach.
The Middle East is no longer a frontier market for gaming and esports; it's an engine of innovation, talent, and long-term opportunity, declared MENATech Entertainment CEO Mario Perez. From bringing GAMERGY MENA to life to developing education programs and regional leagues, our in-region work throughout the region responds to the size of what is possible here. Our international know-how, local connections, and people-centered development are serving to make the region at the forefront of the global esports debate. With innovative policies, digitally literate youth, and quickly growing digital infrastructure, this is an energetic hub for scaling the worldwide gaming business, now worth $200 billion.
As part of national economic visions, in the first quarter of 2025, MENATech hosted one of the world's most renowned gaming festivals, GAMERGY, for the first time in the region. Located in Cairo, GAMERGY MENA attracted more than 40,000 visitors and included premier tournaments in popular games such as Valorant, PUBG Mobile, League of Legends, and Rocket League. Backed by the Egyptian Ministry of Youth & Sports, IMKAN Misr, Samsung, and Red Bull, the event was a turning point for Middle Eastern esports, boasting prize pools over EGP 2 million.

With Riot Games, the gaming company initiated the Strike Arabia Championship, which was the first official regional Valorant league. Covering the GCC, Levant, Iraq, Egypt, and North Africa, the tournament featured amateur and professional divisions with the best players proceeding to European LAN finals. The format provided a linkage between regional players and international platforms, allowing local talent to step into the spotlight.
In Saudi Arabia, MENATech was involved in the original establishment of the Saudi Esports Academy, setting the stage for a more structured and on-campus model. The company is also at the forefront of the UNIVERSITY Esports program throughout the MENA region, empowering students through workshops and career opportunities in broadcasting, event management, and digital marketing. Historically supported by international brands such as Amazon and HP Omen, the program ranks among the few within the region that equates competitive gaming to long-term career trajectories.
With one of the world's youngest populations, the demand for competitive gaming is enormous in the region. That demand is met by cultural momentum, in which gaming as a career is seen as viable, as it is respected. Dubai is already hosting more than 350 gaming companies, including 260 dedicated developers. Large-scale events like the Dubai Esports Festival and the growth of innovation centers such as the DMCC Gaming Centre are facilitated by issuance of resident visas related to gaming.
MENATech persists in distinguishing itself by embedding itself deeply in the region's ecosystem. The firm does not merely function as a third party, but is partnered with public and private partners to create long-term programs and infrastructure. Its strategy is not only to host events, but to build skills, generate jobs, and stimulate innovation.
With the Esports World Cup coming back to Riyadh in 2025 and other global gaming companies joining the Gulf, the Middle East's profile has never been higher. MENATech is committed to expanding its education initiatives, increasing its tournament roster, and establishing a thriving esports economy. By aligning itself strategically with national projects, mega events, and investments in human capital development, the group is assisting in the positioning of the gaming sector as a principal driver of economic diversification and cultural innovation throughout the Middle East.
