MinDA & Fulbright Philippines Expand Education Opportunities

    • MinDA and Fulbright Philippines signed an MOU to expand international scholarships.
    • The program will focus on graduate studies and research in fields like energy and agriculture.
    • The initiative aims to empower Mindanaoan scholars and professionals to drive regional growth.

The Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) has partnered with the Philippine-American Educational Foundation (PAEF), better known as Fulbright Philippines, to expand international scholarship opportunities for Mindanaoans. The memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed at the Grand Regal Hotel in Davao City.

Leo Tereso A. Magno, Chairperson Secretary of MinDA, said the partnership opens new doors for scholars and professionals from the region. “Education is the most powerful engine of peace, progress, and prosperity. Through this collaboration, we aim to empower Mindanao’s future leaders”, he emphasized.

The program will support graduate education and advanced research in priority sectors such as energy and agriculture. Fulbright Philippines, the country’s longest running international scholarship initiative, has already provided opportunities to more than 4,000 scholars since 1948. With this new partnership, more Mindanaoans will be able to access world class education and return with skills to contribute to regional development.

Aligned with the Philippine Development Plan 2023-2028, the partnership highlights the importance of regional participation in global learning networks while supporting modernization efforts in agriculture and energy, key drivers of Mindanao’s growth.
