The Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen has launched a major expansion project at the University of Saba Region in Marib to improve higher education. This initiative addresses overcrowding and classroom shortages by adding two new buildings with 16 classrooms and an administrative office. The program also laid the foundation for a new college of medicine, aiming to train skilled medical professionals to strengthen Yemen’s health sector.
Mohammed Al-Qudsi, the university president, praised the Saudi program for its support, including a transport service project designed to help female students access education more easily. These efforts are part of a wider commitment to enhance education across Yemen, with 56 projects focusing on general, higher, and vocational education in 11 governorates.
The Saudi program also showcased its work at the Future Projects Forum in Riyadh from September 8 to 10. The event gathered local and international stakeholders, where the program displayed 265 ongoing projects across key sectors such as education, health, water, energy, transport, agriculture, and capacity building for Yemen’s government.
These projects aim to improve daily life, infrastructure, community stability, and sustainable development in Yemen. Additionally, they support private sector growth, construction, investment, and trade by enhancing imports and exports.
