· AVS Certification launched to upskill AV professionals in Singapore’s MICE and hospitality sectors.
· 16-hour WSQ course blends hands-on training with industry-backed curriculum.
· Joint initiative by Unearthed Productions, NTUC LearningHub, and SACEOS, endorsed by Singapore Tourism Board.
In an effort to improve audio-visual (AV) standards in Singapore's events and hospitality industries, Unearthed Productions, NTUC LearningHub (NTUC LHUB), and the Singapore Association of Convention & Exhibition Organisers and Suppliers (SACEOS) entered into a Partnership Agreement to launch a new professional certification programme.
The recently introduced course, named WSQ Fundamentals of Audio, Visual, and Lighting Systems, is meant to raise AV competence in the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) sector. On successful completion, participants will receive the Audio Visual Specialist (AVS) certification a professional title similar to the CMP (Certified Meeting Professional) designation, entitling them to use it after their names.
The deal was signed at CatchUP 2025, the annual industry convention of Unearthed Productions. The event also saw two key announcements: the launch of UPGroup Asia, Unearthed's Asia brand, and the introduction of a venue discovery portal to enable customers to explore UP-managed venues and enhance AVL (Audio, Visual, Lighting) experiences with bundled services.
Designed by NTUC LHUB in partnership with Unearthed Productions' instructors and supported by SACEOS and the Singapore Tourism Board (STB), the 16-hour training programme integrates hands-on practice with technical concepts. It is a component of Singapore's national WSQ system and features funding assistance for qualifying participants. Intended for AV technicians, MICE professionals, and hospitality staff, the programme equips learners with critical competencies in AV system inspection, troubleshooting, operation, and compliance to safety regulations.
“We’ve seen how skilled AV professionals can elevate events from good to exceptional. This course is taught using real-world equipment to ensure graduates are job-ready,” said Adam Piperdy, Founder and Chief Experience Officer of Unearthed Productions.
"Singapore's MICE industry requires AV talent with the latest skills and tools. Collaborating with Unearthed allows us to provide experiential training grounded in today's best practices," Tay Ee Learn, NTUC LearningHub Assistant Chief Executive & Chief Sector Skills Officer, added.
The program supports STB's Tourism 2040 masterplan, which places a strong focus on developing world-class capabilities in the business events sector.
"As business events grow more sophisticated, advanced AV skills are essential. This AVS certification will serve to hone professionals and forge relevant career trajectories while confirming Singapore's position as a world MICE leader," added Rachel Loh, Executive Director of Hospitality & Tourism Talent, Singapore Tourism Board.
Singapore just clinched a number one spot on the ICCA Worldwide City Rankings, signaling its ability to host international business events. With an objective to triple MICE-related tourism receipts by 2040, there's increasing need for professional AV staff capable of providing superior event experiences.
The AVS certification program is an indicator of Unearthed Productions' continued dedication not just to creating lasting experiences but also developing professional skills that benefit the industry as a whole. Course registration is now available through NTUC LearningHub.
