The University of Liverpool has announced its new Bengaluru campus location in Alembic City, which it said is one of the city's most vibrant developments for education, research, and innovation. The campus, opening in 2026, offers a state-of-the-art, 360-degree new learning environment for the University's first cohort of students in Bengaluru.
Smart classrooms with experiential engagement, case-based teaching, and flipped classroom approaches will be implemented, while research and innovation spaces and collaborative learning hubs offer cross-disciplinary learning and industry interaction. Specialized laboratories, including Bloomberg terminals, will facilitate hands-on learning.
Through these flexible learning spaces, which enable multiple modes of learning, the new campus aspires to offer a truly holistic student experience. Every aspect of the campus-from innovation hubs down to community zones-has been thoughtfully planned to drive creativity, collaboration, and continuous growth.
The University has also opened student recruitment for the inaugural 2026 cohort. Applicants can choose from an initial academic portfolio spanning Computer Science, Business Management, Accounting and Finance, Biomedical Sciences, and, a first for UK campuses in India, Game Design. The Bengaluru campus will bring Liverpool's world-class academic and research excellence to India, offering UK-accredited degree programs that combine global quality with Indian relevance.
To celebrate the milestone, Lucy Everest, Chief Operating Officer at the University of Liverpool, undertook a four-day visit to Mumbai and Bengaluru from November 15-19 to meet educators, school leaders, and prospective students. She spoke as a keynote speaker at a School Leaders’ Conference in Mumbai, where she spoke on how the University's India campus aligns with India's National Education Policy (NEP) 2020-a transformative blueprint to expand access to higher education to 50% of India's youth by 2035 and position India as a global education hub. The University of Liverpool's expansion exemplifies the vision of the NEP 2020 to create globally connected, locally rooted institutions.

Speaking on her visit, Lucy said, "It has been a pleasure to spend time in Bengaluru and Mumbai this week, meeting educators, alumni, and applicants who are excited about the University of Liverpool arriving in India. We look forward to welcoming our first group of gifted students in 2026 and to offering them the best learning experience that enhances their skills and employability. Alembic City offers the ideal location in which to bring this vision to life, and our new campus will offer our students the very best facilities to support their learning journey with us".
The University will also establish a strong research footprint in India, driving fundamental, applied, and industry-led research that addresses shared challenges between the two nations, including sustainability, innovation, digital transformation, and health sciences. Besides academic and research excellence, the Bengaluru campus is unique in having architectural and design-led features that enhance student experience.
An integrated experience zone acts as an active, permeable hub connecting academia, industry, and the community. Purpose-designed modular learning settings enable a quick transformation from group activities to seminar-style teaching, thus assuring maximum flexibility of space. The campus also has an embedded co-working hub for faculty, entrepreneurs, and teams of students where knowledge exchange can occur directly and without friction between the university and industry. Admissions for the academic year of 2026 are now open. For more information on programmes and eligibility, and how to apply, visit the Liverpool India Campus website.
