The University of the Philippines Manila (UPM) is opening new doors to flexible and accessible education through its partnership with Australia's OpenLearning platform. Beginning this December, the university will offer 21 free online courses across various disciplines, promoting lifelong learning for students, professionals, and the public.
OpenLearning, operated by the Education Centre of Australia (ECA), is an AI powered platform that specializes in short courses, microcredentials, and online degrees. Through this collaboration, UPM aims to strengthen its digital learning ecosystem and make specialized education available to a wider audience.
The free online courses include Artificial Intelligence for Medical Educators, Primary Healthcare-Oriented Practice for Specialists, Leadership in Advanced Nursing, Forensic Science: The Basics, Clinical Pharmacy, and Government Design: Legislature, Executive, and Judiciary, among others. These self-paced courses are designed to provide practical knowledge through modular learning.
Initially, the courses will be available to UP students and alumni, with plans to extend access to the general public. Participants who complete the modules and pass the examinations will receive a certificate and a digital badge, which can be displayed on their professional profiles.
