- Vietnamese and Russian Deputy PMs held phone talks to strengthen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and review cooperation progress
- Discussions covered trade, agriculture, energy (oil, gas, LNG, nuclear power), and science & technology, with new initiatives in AI, education, and human resource training
- Both sides agreed to boost exports, advance joint projects, and prepare for the next Intergovernmental Committee session, with Vietnam proposing early high-level talks on key investments
Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha, Chairman of the Vietnam Subcommittee of the Vietnam-Russian Federation Intergovernmental Committee on Economic, Trade, Scientific, and Technical Cooperation, spoke by phone with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Nikolayevich Chernyshenko, Chairman of the Russian Subcommittee.
Russian Deputy Prime Minister Chernyshenko congratulated Vietnam on the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2). The two Deputy Prime Ministers decided to continue to effectively execute the signed documents and cooperation agreements as well as the instructions of the two nations' highest leaders in an effort to deepen further the Vietnam - Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
Deputy Prime Minister Chernyshenko lauded the favorable results in economic, trade, and investment cooperation between the two nations. He suggested that the two continue implementing the roadmap for the master plan on cooperation development up to 2030, particularly in the sectors of industry, agriculture, medicine, and trade.
Both sides committed to improving coordination to overcome challenges and drive exports to each other's markets and to the Eurasian Economic Union, targeting robust sectors of agriculture, food, textiles, and consumer goods.
Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha highlighted the enormous potential for cooperation in economic, trade, and investment relations as well as market expansion opportunities between the two nations.
On the energy side, the two parties discussed cooperation in the exploration of oil and gas, production of liquefied natural gas (LNG) products, and LNG-based projects. They also touched on issues concerning the implementation of the nuclear power plant project in Ninh Thuan.
In the fields of science, technology, education, and humanities, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha was pleased with Russia's proposal for establishing a Russian school in Vietnam with a new educational curriculum, viewing the project as extremely important.

Moreover, Hanoi has designated an area and is willing to coordinate with Moscow in developing the 'House of Moscow' project in the capital city. Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha also commended Russia's long-term contribution to training quality human resources for Vietnam, with current priorities being energy, digital transformation, science, technology, and arts.
Vietnam also conveyed its wish for Russia to continue supporting the training of specialists who can master and work on technology in bilateral cooperative projects. Vietnam also showed willingness to cooperate with Russia in artificial intelligence.
At the end of the phone call, the two Deputy Prime Ministers reiterated that they would discuss any question to contribute to extensive cooperation. They directed respective ministries and branches to urgently prepare materials for the next session of the Vietnam - Russia Intergovernmental Committee on Economic, Trade, Scientific, and Technical Cooperation.
Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha also initiated the early convening of high-level government and ministry-to-ministry talks to discuss pressing and important matters concerning investment cooperation projects, such as nuclear power, multi-disciplinary technical centers, and increasing trade and investment between companies from the two countries.
