AIT and VIT Join Hands to Enhance Semiconductor Education

    • AIT and VIT sign a five year MoU to strengthen education and research collaboration
    • Launch Graduate Pathway Programme for seamless semiconductor studies
    • Plans for student exchanges, joint research, and Centres of Excellence

The Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) in Thailand and Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), India, have joined hands through a five year strategic partnership to advance education and research, especially in the fast growing semiconductor sector. This collaboration aims to bridge gaps in talent and research between the two institutions.

AIT President Pai-Chi Li and VIT Vice President Sekar Viswanathan signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), opening doors for student and faculty exchanges, joint research projects, and dual-degree programs. A standout feature is the Graduate Pathway Programme in Semiconductors. This program offers VIT students a smooth academic transition, starting with a bridging semester at VIT covering Electronics, Computer Engineering, and Computer Science, followed by advanced studies at AIT and National Taipei University of Technology (Taipei Tech), Taiwan.

Beyond semiconductors, the partnership will support joint academic programs, international seminars, conferences, and collaborative research. Both institutes also plan to set up Centres of Excellence across various fields including science, engineering, technology, management, and humanities to deepen their cooperation.
