Workato Launches AI Alliance To Boost Talent & Innovation

    • Workato launches the AI Institute Alliance in Singapore to upskill the workforce with AI and automation expertise.
    • Collaboration includes NUS, Singapore Polytechnic, Ngee Ann Polytechnic, and other top institutions to prepare students for AI-driven workplaces.
    • Programs offer hands-on training, internships, industry placements, and participation in the National AI Student Challenge 2026.

Workato, a worldwide leader in agentic orchestration, has revealed the introduction of the AI Institute Alliance, a key initiative to enhance the AI workforce and ecosystem in Singapore. Collaborating with top education institutions such as Nanyang Polytechnic, Republic Polytechnic, Temasek Polytechnic, Singapore Polytechnic, Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Singapore University of Social Sciences, and the National University of Singapore, the partnership aims at preparing the future workforce with superior AI and automation training that immediately increases workplace preparedness and economic influence.

Simon Chesterman, Vice Provost of NUS and Senior Director of AI Governance at AI Singapore, gave the keynote address on 'The University Disrupted: Higher Education in the Age of Artificial Intelligence'. He spoke about the changing role of universities and the necessity of lifelong learning in a knowledge-based economy led by AI, underlining the role of students to learn both the promise and limitation of new technologies while being flexible enough to grasp new possibilities.

The series also included a panel discussion entitled "Bridging Education and Enterprise: Preparing the Next Generation of AI Leaders", moderated by Workato CIO Carter Busse. Leaders from the industry, Colin Yip of PSA and Miguel Ho of FairPrice Group, emphasized workforce readiness and AI skill gaps and called for greater collaboration between education and industry in readying talent for the fast-changing AI environment.

Continuing its past impacts, Workato has also educated more than 3,000 tertiary students in automation and integration abilities. The organization is further taking its services to the enterprise level of training in automation, enabling students and instructors to gain more professional contributions. Workato programs have already made possible industry placements, including at PSA Singapore, where Workato-trained students as well as a lecturer were hired to automate intern onboarding processes. Likewise, NTUC FairPrice Group hired certified students to support its Digital HR initiative, taking advantage of Workato's automation function for employee applications and Ministry of Manpower compliance.

In line with Singapore's National AI Strategy 2.0, the AI Institute Alliance offers participants direct experience with AI, mentoring by industry specialists, and intern opportunities within Workato's ecosystem. The organization will also collaborate with AI Singapore to sponsor a track at the National AI Student Challenge 2026, where students can create hands-on, AI-based solutions, such as creating AI agents as digital twins and using Generative AI to streamline business processes. With these efforts, Workato hopes to develop Singapore as a world AI hub while grooming the workforce of the future.
