CIT University Partners with OpenLearning in 5-Year SaaS Agreement

    • OpenLearning signed a five-year SaaS deal worth at least $340,000 with Cebu Institute of Technology University (CIT) in the Philippines to deploy its AI-powered LMS across all faculties for 20,000+ students annually.
    • The partnership aims to enhance student engagement, graduate employability, and institutional effectiveness, positioning OpenLearning as a leading AI-driven LMS provider in Southeast Asia.
    • The deal follows a reseller agreement with Elcom Technology, expanding OpenLearning’s reach into the Australian corporate training market.

OpenLearning has signed a five-year, usage-based software-as-a-service (SaaS) contract with a minimum value of $340,000 with Cebu Institute of Technology University (CIT) in the Philippines. The agreement will have the company's artificial intelligence (AI)-driven learning management system (LMS) implemented across all faculties and courses at CIT, with a minimum of 20,000 students utilizing the platform annually.

CIT the top private university known nationally for its excellence in engineering, architecture, IT, health sciences, business and education selected OpenLearning after considering several providers. Expanding in the Philippines OpenLearning stated the agreement establishes it as a top AI-powered LMS provider in Southeast Asia, building on its increasing number of institutional customers in the Philippines.

The platform's outcome-based education facilities, ePortfolio platform and AI-powered course design capabilities are intended to enhance student engagement, graduate employability, and institutional effectiveness. Chief executive officer Adam Brimo stated entering into a partnership with a leading private university in south-central Philippines, which is designated as a Centre of Excellence in IT Education, was 'a strong endorsement of our platform's capabilities' and demonstrated a mutual commitment to 'quality, innovation, and scalable impact'.

He explained the partnership brought together CIT's engineering and innovation capabilities with OpenLearning's AI-driven LMS to provide a vibrant learning platform that equips graduates for the demands of the contemporary workforce. Strategic Significance Beyond Revenue Although the minimum contracted fees are immaterial to the company in financial terms, OpenLearning explained the agreement was strategically significant in light of CIT's brand and its commitment to rolling out the platform company-wide.

The deal also provides for incremental revenue based on usage above the yearly minimum. The Philippines' tertiary education market, with more than 3.4 million students and increasing digital uptake, is a significant expansion opportunity for the company. By acquiring a partnership with one of the nation's most esteemed private universities, OpenLearning seeks to further establish credibility and share in the region.

The SaaS deal features standard termination provisions, service level agreements and compliance terms, including the right to terminate if the platform is unable to comply with Philippine regulatory requirements. Elcom Technology Partnership The CIT deal comes after OpenLearning's recent three-year reseller arrangement with Australian intranet and content management company Elcom Technology. As part of the agreement, Elcom will combine OpenLearning's enterprise LMS into its digital workplace offerings for over 200 corporate customers in industry segments such as government, finance, healthcare and retail.

Constellation Software's acquisition of Elcom earlier this year, through Vela Software Group, adds further outreach and strategic solidity to the alliance. Both businesses view the agreement as an entry point for OpenLearning to ramp up its presence in the Australian corporate training sector, drawing on Elcom's existing customer base and established relationships. Mr Brimo added the combination of "Elcom's proven digital workplace platform with OpenLearning's next-generation learning management system and AI-enhanced course tools" creates a cohesive platform for scalable, outcome-focussed corporate training and professional development.
