Egypt and South Korea have taken a major step in strengthening education cooperation with a $10 million agreement to modernize vocational training in green automotive technologies. The initiative will be carried out through the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and Egypt’s Productivity and Vocational Training Department (PVTD).
The agreement focuses on training programs for Electric Vehicle (EV) and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) maintenance, providing students with advanced curricula, simulation systems, and modern equipment. It aims to prepare a new generation of skilled technicians ready to meet the rising demand for eco-friendly vehicles in Egypt.
The signing ceremony in Cairo was attended by Rania Al Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation, and KIM Yong Hyon, South Korean Ambassador to Egypt, along with senior officials from both sides.
Marking the 30th anniversary of Egypt-Korea diplomatic ties, the project highlights a joint commitment to sustainability and economic growth. Ambassador Kim called it a symbol of the strong partnership between the two nations. “This initiative will empower youth and support a sustainable future in the automotive sector”, he said.

Lieutenant General Kamel Al Wazir, Egypt’s Minister of Industry and Transport, stressed the importance of equipping young people with practical skills in EV battery systems and CNG maintenance. Minister Al Mashat added that the project aligns with Egypt’s vision of shifting to high value industries and enhancing foreign investment.
The program builds on KOICA’s long standing work in Egypt, which since the 1990s has supported curriculum upgrades, training materials, and digital transformation initiatives across the country.
