Philippine Coding Camp (PCC) has expanded its support for technology-driven education and research through a series of capacity-building initiatives with the Philippine Military Academy (PMA). The collaboration focuses on integrating additive manufacturing and professional research tools into the Academy’s academic and training programmes.
As part of the initiative, PCC donated a Creality Hi Combo 3D printer to the Academy. The equipment is intended to support capability development efforts, particularly the use of additive manufacturing in instruction, training, research, and technology development. The donation marks a practical step toward equipping PMA faculty and cadets with modern prototyping tools that are increasingly essential in engineering education and defence-related innovation.
Beyond providing hardware, PCC conducted hands-on training sessions for PMA academic personnel. The workshops covered the fundamentals of additive manufacturing, preparing digital models for fabrication, operating the 3D printer, and exploring practical applications. Participants learned how 3D printing can enhance classroom demonstrations, support engineering projects, enable rapid prototyping, and contribute to research activities. These sessions aimed to build immediate operational competence so that faculty can independently incorporate the technology into their teaching and laboratory work.
In addition to the 3D printing training, PCC organised a research-writing workshop focused on LaTeX, a professional document-preparation system widely used for scientific and technical publications. The workshop introduced participants to the structure, formatting, and collaboration features of LaTeX, helping them produce high-quality academic papers and technical reports. Subscriptions to the LaTeX-based platform used during the training were donated to the Academy by PCC’s partner university in South Korea, the Kumoh National Institute of Technology. This international dimension underscores the value of cross-border academic partnerships in strengthening local research capacity.

Dr. Gabriel Avelino R. Sampedro, Founder and CEO of Philippine Coding Camp, explained the motivation behind the initiative. “We want to pay forward the generosity extended to us when we were just starting", he said. “Through this initiative, we hope to support the Philippine Military Academy not only in developing prototypes and instructional materials but also in producing high-quality research that can contribute to innovation, capability development, and national service".
