Jeddah University has strengthened its digital learning ecosystem by deploying the Nutanix Cloud Platform, helping students and faculty access modern, flexible, and skills-driven education. The move supports the university’s goal to deliver technology-enabled learning aligned with Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to build a knowledge-based economy and prepare young people for future jobs.
As one of Saudi Arabia’s newest public universities, Jeddah University follows the 'New Saudi University Mission', which emphasizes innovation, collaboration, and real-world impact. Digital tools play a key role in this approach. Virtual desktops allow students to attend classes, run lab simulations, work on research projects, and collaborate with peers from campus or remotely.
However, the university faced challenges with rising IT costs, uneven system performance, and complex management of its virtual desktop infrastructure. These issues began to affect the quality of online learning and slowed down academic activities.
To solve this, Jeddah University standardized its virtual desktop system on Nutanix. The new platform offers stronger security, better performance, and easier management. It also integrates smoothly with core academic systems such as the learning management system, student information system, and everyday tools like Microsoft Office.

The results have been clear. The university can now create new virtual desktops in under three minutes, helping it quickly respond to growing student demand. IT management workload has dropped by over 45 percent, while overall operating costs have reduced by around 40 precent. This has freed up IT teams to focus on innovation rather than routine maintenance.
More importantly, students and staff now enjoy a smoother digital learning experience that supports practical skills, digital literacy, and job readiness. Looking ahead, Jeddah University plans to use the Nutanix platform to explore generative AI and other advanced technologies, further strengthening its role in shaping the future of higher education in Saudi Arabia.
