South Korea and Egypt are joining forces to transform education with a strong focus on digital learning and cultural exchange. In Cairo, Ambassador Kim Yonghyon met with Egypt’s Minister of Education and Technical Education, Dr. Mohamed Abdel-Latif, to announce a new initiative that combines technology, training, and language learning.
At the heart of this partnership is a five year project worth $15 million, funded by South Korea. Starting in 2027, the program will modernize 54 public middle schools across all 27 Egyptian governorates. It will introduce ICT based curricula, provide teacher training in digital skills, and upgrade computer labs, internet access, and school administration systems. Preparatory studies will continue until 2026.
The initiative aims to equip Egyptian students with future ready skills as technologies like artificial intelligence reshape the world of work. By sharing its global expertise, South Korea hopes to support Egypt’s shift toward a digitally enabled education system.

Cultural cooperation is also growing. Interest in Korean language learning has surged in Egypt, with the King Sejong Institute recording record enrollments. To meet demand, two new institutes opened in Cairo and Alexandria in 2025, and discussions are underway to include Korean language courses in Egypt’s formal school system.
This collaboration reflects the shared vision of both nations of empowering young people with digital knowledge and cross cultural understanding to thrive in a rapidly changing future.
