Sunway University and Elitery, the leading Indonesian provider of managed cloud and security solutions, have signed a nonmonetary and nonbinding MoU for exploring opportunities for collaboration on AI and digital learning. The MoU provides a framework for good faith discussions and does not carry any financial or legal obligations for either party but acts as an avenue for both organizations to evaluate mutual interests and co-develop initiatives that advance the cause of technology-enabled education.
With this agreement, the two organizations want to explore how new digital tools could help shape the future of learning and research. The collaboration will investigate educational technology innovations in developing intelligent learning systems with the ability to support educators and improve student performance. Besides the development of technologies, it also aims to identify potential joint research projects in the growing field of education technology, creating opportunities for international academic contributions and participation in global showcases.
It also mentions the need for capacity building, including both parties exploring opportunities around training and upskilling to equip students, faculty, and researchers with the practical skills required in AI and digital tools. Other areas of focus include knowledge and best practices exchange through potential cobranded seminars, workshops, and conferences to spur the adoption of AI-driven education throughout Malaysia and the region.
Meanwhile, the Dean of the School of Education at Sunway University, Professor Malissa Maria Mahmud, was optimistic about the future of the partnership. She commented that technology has increasingly played a critical role in shaping the future of education and believes that the agreement is an opportunity to explore how AI can meaningfully enhance teaching and learning while ensuring educators and students are equipped with the digital capabilities required in today's economy. She mentioned that the non-binding nature of the MoU allows flexibility for both parties to identify and co-create initiatives that truly benefit their academic community and external partners.

The MoU will guide collaborative discussions for an initial period of three years, with any resulting programmes or projects to be formalized under separate agreements as necessary.
