The two-day event, held in collaboration with CelcomDigi, attracted 555 attendees from Malaysia and abroad, further cementing the country’s reputation as a growing hub for immersive technology in the region.
The event featured 32 exhibitors and 25 speakers, showcasing cutting-edge developments in extended reality, virtual production, immersive storytelling, and creative content. Leading companies such as CelcomDigi, FreeDome, Experiential Design Team, Revenant Reverie, and FaBu Designs offered hands-on demonstrations, while students and independent creators contributed innovative ideas and perspectives to the showcase.
A significant highlight was the launch of the International Interactive & Immersive Society, Malaysia’s first dedicated immersive technology association. The organisation aims to foster the growth of AR, VR, MR, XR, virtual production, simulators, and AV hardware across the nation. Its priorities include strengthening collaboration within the ecosystem, developing skilled talent, enabling commercialisation, and contributing to policy development, positioning Malaysia at the forefront of immersive tech in the region.
In addition, the event saw the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Monolith Technologies and Virtualtech Frontier, establishing a strategic partnership focused on developing new XR experiences aligned with Malaysia’s digital economy goals.
A roundtable session with Meta Reality Labs brought together representatives from government, academia, and industry, including MTVET, TalentCorp, and several local universities. Discussions centred on leveraging immersive technology to support education, skills development, and workforce readiness.
The Matchworks Business Matching Programme also proved highly engaging, with 17 Malaysian solution providers connecting with 43 SMEs and corporates to explore opportunities in marketing, operations, and customer experience.
