Globe Telecom has partnered with Khan Academy Philippines to expand access to quality education for Filipino students and educators, particularly in underserved areas with limited learning resources. The initiative supports ongoing reforms by the Department of Education (DepEd) focused on school digitalization, teacher assistance, and connectivity.
At the core of the collaboration is a digital skills program that combines Globe’s nationwide connectivity with Khan Academy’s globally trusted content. The program offers lessons in STEM, digital literacy, online safety, and essential life skills, aligned with the current DepEd curriculum. Students can access these materials online or via the GlobeOne app, while teachers benefit from Khanmigo an AI-powered teaching assistant that can operate in multiple Philippine languages, including Tagalog, Waray, Cebuano, Hiligaynon, and Ilocano.
Globe Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer Yoly Crisanto emphasized the need for education to evolve with technology. “By working with Khan Academy Philippines, we’re opening doors to leapfrog our students to 21st-century learning”, she said.
The partnership also includes an employee volunteer program, enabling Globe staff to work with schools and communities on maximizing Khan Academy’s resources. Khan Academy Philippines President and CEO Geraldine Acuña-Sunshine described the effort as 'bayanihan in action', envisioning classrooms equipped with screens, smart tools, and open access to a world of knowledge.
Earlier this year, Globe, Khan Academy, and Ayala Foundation distributed tablets, Blue Boards, and Globe Fiber Prepaid WiFi to five beneficiary schools under Globe’s 'G-Gantic Goals' program. These schools are CENTEX Manila in Tondo, Pasong Kawayan 2 West Elementary School in Cavite City, Lahug Elementary School in Cebu City, CENTEX Batangas in Bauan, and Pampanga High School in San Fernando City.

DepEd Secretary Sonny Angara expressed gratitude for the partnership, noting that the integration of digital tools not only streamlines learning but also empowers students to pursue their dreams. “By bridging our learners and educators to digital tools, we’re not just easing the learning process; we’re shaping their future”, Angara said.
