Pokhara Metropolitan City has signed a collaborative agreement with Youngsan University in South Korea to establish scholarships for studying technical education. The agreement was signed between Mayor Dhan Raj Acharya and Youngsan University Professor Choi Jae-Young, as a first step to enhance academic relations and promote educational development between the two countries.
According to the agreement, both countries will aim to build international relations and foster mutual development through cooperation in the fields of academia, culture, and technology. The partnership will cover the sharing of human resources and information for the facilitation of education, tourism, and technical programs. In addition, the partnership will provide joint education programs, visiting students and faculty, and virtual learning opportunities, creating new channels for cross-border education.
Mayor Acharya was optimistic regarding the advantages of the partnership, pointing out that the University would provide much-needed support to students from Pokhara pursuing studies in South Korea. The support, he added, would not only benefit them academically but also settle aspects of social security and open doors to minimum employment opportunities. He stressed that the agreement marked an important milestone toward expanding access to global scholarships for Pokhara students, making them able to experience the world and acquire advanced technology skills.
Professor Choi Jae-Young seconded this idea by confirming Youngsan University's willingness to collaborate closely with Pokhara Metropolitan City toward education development. He further pointed out that the University was especially keen to cooperate in areas of technical education and human resource development with a vision of establishing mutually rewarding outcomes. Choi further pointed out that such collaborations would further help reinforce South Korea-Nepal relations, not just in the field of education, but also other areas which can be empowered through mutual know-how.

The memorandum is viewed as part of Pokhara Metropolitan City's wider vision to bring global opportunities into its local development plan. In connecting with global institutions such as Youngsan University, the city hopes to provide its youths with suitable skills and experience with global standards, eventually contributing to individual career advancement and the socio-economic development of the city.
This project is also likely to enhance Pokhara's status as an educational hub for Nepal, bringing in more collaborative opportunities from outside the country. Technological education takes center stage among the partnership, with students enjoying state-of-the-art learning spaces, up-to-date training, and practical exposure that can make them more competitive in both local and global employment opportunities.
With this partnership, Pokhara Metropolitan City and Youngsan University have established a foundation for a long-term relationship that mixes learning with cultural exchange, promoting a spirit of collaboration and mutual growth between the two places.
