- UAE schools and universities to have early spring break from March 9-22.
- Decision comes amid regional tensions and security concerns.
- Indian schools in the UAE await clarity from authorities.
The UAE’s Ministry of Education and Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research have announced an early spring break for all schools and universities. The spring holidays will now begin on Monday, March 9, and continue until Sunday, March 22, covering both government and private institutions, as well as universities.
Originally, the 2025-2026 academic calendar scheduled the last day of classes for some schools on March 13, with a holiday period from March 16 to March 27. However, due to the ongoing regional security concerns, the authorities decided to bring the break forward. This shift in schedule is aimed at prioritizing the safety of students, staff, and educational personnel. Indian schools in the UAE are still awaiting updates from their local education authorities on the impact of this change.

In addition, the UAE had earlier implemented a temporary shift to distance learning, which started on March 2 and will last until March 6. This measure was taken in response to escalating tensions in the region, particularly following missile and drone strikes launched by Iran against Gulf states. The authorities have urged everyone to stay updated through official channels to ensure safety.
This decision underscores the importance of flexibility in the education sector amid challenging geopolitical scenarios and emphasizes the need to adapt swiftly to ensure the safety and well-being of students and the educational community.
