Cambodia is stepping up efforts to strengthen French language education by promoting a new digital learning platform and wider use of social media for knowledge sharing. Chuon Naron, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Youth and Sport Hang , encouraged the initiative as part of a broader push to modernize language learning and build future-ready skills.
The minister shared his views during a meeting with Rennie Yotova, Director for French Language Education at the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF), held at the Ministry of Education. The discussion focused on expanding cooperation between Cambodia and the OIF to improve access to quality French education across the country.
Naron highlighted the importance of digital tools in reaching more learners and supporting teachers. He said a French-language digital education platform could help students improve language skills, support educators with resources, and create new learning pathways aligned with global standards.
The meeting also welcomed 13 international French volunteer teachers selected by the OIF for 2026 under the International French Volunteer Teacher Mobility Programme. Since its launch in 2020, the program has played a key role in supporting French education worldwide. In Cambodia, the volunteers will work in schools and institutions to train teachers, establish French language clubs, and lead cultural and artistic activities.
Rennie Yotova noted that the program responds directly to the needs of Cambodian teachers and students. The volunteers aim to improve classroom teaching, encourage student engagement, and build practical language skills that support education and employment opportunities.

Minister Naron thanked the volunteers for their contribution and said their presence reflects strong international cooperation. He added that their work will also support Cambodia’s preparations for hosting the upcoming Francophonie Summit, underlining the country’s growing role in the global French-speaking community.
By combining digital education, international expertise, and language skills development, Cambodia aims to equip students with tools that improve employability, cultural exchange, and global participation.
