- Gyeonggi education office launches Parent Policy Monitoring Group with over 2,500 parents to shape education policies
- Parents will participate in surveys, discussions, and policy reviews from May 2026 to February 2027
- Initiative aims to strengthen family-school collaboration and create more inclusive, responsive education systems
The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education has announced a large-scale initiative to strengthen collaboration between families and schools by opening applications for the 2026 Gyeonggi Parent Policy Monitoring Group. The move reflects a growing emphasis on parental involvement in education and aims to ensure that education policies better reflect the needs and experiences of families.
The program invites parents with children enrolled in kindergartens, elementary, middle, high, and special schools across the province to apply, with a total of 2,566 members set to be selected. Scheduled to run from May 2026 through February 2027, the initiative will give parents a direct role in shaping and evaluating education policy development.
Officials say the monitoring group will play a key role in improving communication between parents, schools, and the education office. Participants will engage in activities such as responding to surveys, reviewing education policies, and attending discussions, briefings, and interactive sessions. Through this process, parents will have the opportunity to contribute their perspectives at every stage, from policy design to implementation and evaluation.

Applications are being accepted online through the designated platform, where parents can register and submit the required documents. Selected participants will be notified in early May and will also take on a broader role by serving as members of the national-level Parent Policy Monitoring Group under the Ministry of Education.
Education authorities believe that encouraging community engagement in education can lead to more effective and responsive policies. By systematically incorporating feedback from families, the initiative seeks to enhance the relevance and impact of programs designed for students.
The effort also aims to build greater trust and understanding among all stakeholders, fostering a more inclusive and transparent education system. As schools continue to evolve, initiatives like this highlight the importance of collaboration, ensuring that parents are not just observers but active contributors to shaping the future of education.
