American Hospital Dubai Earns NIHS Accreditation for Medical Education

  • American Hospital Dubai has achieved another significant milestone after receiving Institutional Accreditation from the National Institute for Health Specialties (NIHS). The recognition confirms that the hospital meets NIHS standards for postgraduate medical education and underscores its growing role in developing the UAE’s healthcare workforce.

Dr Mohammed Al Houqani, Secretary General of NIHS, presented the Institutional Accreditation certificate to American Hospital Dubai. He noted that the accreditation demonstrates the hospital’s compliance with national standards for postgraduate medical training. Dr Al Houqani expressed satisfaction at seeing a private hospital actively contribute to healthcare workforce development, emphasising that academic hospitals strengthen the sector by integrating clinical care, education, research and continuous quality improvement. NIHS leads and regulates medical professional development across the country.

The accreditation, announced on 6 July 2026, reaffirms American Hospital Dubai’s commitment to advancing professional medical practice in the UAE and the wider region.

Medical education and the nurturing of future healthcare leaders form core values of the hospital. These priorities are delivered through the American Hospital Academic Institute (AHAI), the hospital’s educational arm established in 2022. AHAI provides medical students with high-quality clinical training and direct exposure to advanced treatments and procedures, supporting higher standards of care in the UAE and beyond.

In addition to AHAI, the hospital operates a Robotic Surgery Training Institute developed in partnership with Robotics Surgical Systems (RSS) and UK-based CMR Surgical. The institute focuses on advancing robotic surgical skills among medical professionals. The NIHS Institutional Accreditation recognises the collective efforts of American Hospital Dubai’s leadership, faculty and the AHAI team in elevating both medical education and patient care.

American Hospital Dubai continues to prioritise innovation, continuous improvement and an exceptional learning environment designed to prepare future physicians for the highest standards of clinical practice.
