Thumbay Group has entered into a whole new era of its tradition of innovation in education and healthcare by launching an integrated veterinary ecosystem and academic pathway that upholds its commitment to the One Health philosophy-a vision where human health, animal welfare, and environmental sustainability are intrinsic to each other.
This strategic move on the part of Thumbay Group is significant for the UAE-a country standing at the forefront of regional development in veterinary science in the face of increased awareness of food security, prevention of zoonotic diseases, and animal welfare.
Announcing the initiative, Dr. Thumbay Moideen, Founder President of Thumbay Group, outlined an ambitious roadmap that integrates clinical service, research, and education under one integrated framework. “Thumbay Veterinary Clinic is already operational in Muwaileh, Sharjah. Construction of the Thumbay Veterinary Hospital at Thumbay Medicity will commence shortly and is scheduled for completion by September 2027. We are also opening the Thumbay Farm for large and small animals, the Thumbay Veterinary Laboratory, Thumbay Veterinary Pharmacy, and new veterinary clinics in Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah, along with a Veterinary Clinical Skills Lab in Dubai. All of these will come under the umbrella of the Thumbay College of Veterinary Medicine”, he said.
The program, which has been given initial approval from the Commission for Academic Accreditation within the UAE, forms part of the Thumbay College of Veterinary Medicine at Gulf Medical University and will offer a globally benchmarked curriculum that allows it to nurture veterinarians who can address complex interconnections between the health of humans, animals, and the environment.

The program will combine rigorous academic instruction, hands-on clinical training, exposure to research, and international learning opportunities in a state-of-the-art setting for 60 students annually. The DVM program is undergirded by a broad network of academic and industry partnerships, over 30 in number, guaranteeing students the benefit of real-world learning and exposure to internationally recognized standards.
GMU collaborates with some of the finest veterinary institutions around the world, such as the Royal Veterinary College in London and Don State Technical University in Russia. Such partnerships would unlock opportunities for joint research collaborations, faculty exchange, and student mobility programs that enhance learning through community engagement and cross-border learning.
Prof. Manda Venkatramana, Chancellor of Gulf Medical University, pointed to the milestone's broader significance "The launch of Veterinary Medicine at GMU is a natural extension of our mission to prepare the next generation of healthcare professionals who serve humanity holistically. The One Health approach is no longer optional; it is a global necessity. By integrating veterinary and medical education, we are building a collaborative academic environment that strengthens public health, research, and the region's biosecurity framework".
The Thumbay Group is building a new benchmark of veterinary education and service in the UAE through its fast-growing network of veterinary clinics, laboratories, and the upcoming hospital. This move is in line with national development goals, ensuring global health advancement, where the Group stands at the helm in bringing about a healthier and more sustainable future for all living things.
