BUV, China's CSCSE Sign MoU To Boost Education Cooperation

    • British University Vietnam (BUV) signed an MoU with China’s CSCSE to strengthen education collaboration and student mobility between Vietnam and China.
    • The partnership enhances access to British-standard education in Southeast Asia, supporting preparatory programs, degree recognition, and exchange opportunities.
    • The agreement expands regional academic and innovation links, offering students broader pathways in international study, entrepreneurship, and employability.

British University Vietnam (BUV) and the Chinese Service Centre for Scholarly Exchange (CSCSE) have made an important move in the promotion of educational collaboration between Vietnam and China, signing the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on the 11th of last month in Beijing. This is an historic moment in the development of educational collaboration, signing the MoU represented by Rick Bennett, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of BUV, and XIA Jianhui, the Deputy Director of CSCSE, who is also under the China Ministry of Education.

Representatives from both sides attended the signing ceremony, including Khieu Thi Nhan, deputy head of the International Education Division of Vietnam's Ministry of Education and Training, Dr. Teo Tong Kooi, a Distinguished Visiting Professor of BUV, Nguyen Thi Vinh Thuy, the Chief Operating Officer of BUV, and officials from CSCSE, China, Liu Danhua and Song Kanglu.

Through the MoU, BUV and CSCSE will jointly improve international mobility and strengthen support networks for students wanting to study abroad. The new partnership is expected to promote academic collaboration, increase institutional links, and open new opportunities for students in Vietnam, China, and the broader Asian education sector. For the students, the partnership will offer them access to quality international education, as the agreement provides preparatory education aimed at preparing them before enrolling in full programs at BUV.

This partnership also connects students to innovation and entrepreneurship platforms, including China’s Chunhui platform and national-level innovation and entrepreneurship competition initiatives, hence promoting improved employability and job readiness. On the other hand, BUV students shall also benefit from `Study in China' initiatives and short-term exchange programs, thus diversifying their global experiences and knowledge. Programs involving recognition of their degrees shall also be streamlined.

For CSCSE, this collaboration opens up a world of opportunity for students to experience a British-standard university within Southeast Asia. Additionally, BUV will assist CSCSE in their outreach program through participating in 'Study in China' programs and holding education exhibitions in Vietnam. This would enable BUV to reach a wider audience through CSCSE's comprehensive network within the study-abroad industry in Asia.

In response to this agreement, XIA Jianhui commented that Vietnam has been increasingly regarded as an attractive destination for Chinese students when it comes to high-quality regional education opportunities. According to Rick Bennett, this MoU marks an important step in BUV’s internationalisation journey because of CSCSE’s strength in region-wide networks and BUV’s strength in high-quality British education.

BUV’s credentials add strength to the value offered by the partnership. Being identified by the Ministry of Education in China and being included on the CSCSE official website, BUV’s degrees are recognized and approved in China. Moreover, it is the first and only institution in Vietnam with an overall QS 5-star rating for six years consecutively from 2022 to 2028.

Providing British degrees with Programs from the University of London with the oversight of the London School of Economics at remarkably reduced costs compared to studying in the UK, BUV is an attractive choice within the current dynamics of global mobility for students. BUV and CSCSE intend to break the mold for regional international education by providing value for quality, recognition, affordability, and accessibility.
