KKU, University of Tsukuba Collaborate On CAMPUS-Asia 6 Programme

    • Khon Kaen University hosted a delegation from Japan’s University of Tsukuba to strengthen academic collaboration under the CAMPUS-ASIA 6 program.
    • The visit focused on student exchange, cross-cultural learning, and international competence development, preparing students for global citizenship.
    • Discussions included future initiatives such as joint research, curriculum development, and potential double degree programs to enhance intercultural and academic cooperation.

    Recently, Khon Kaen University welcomed a delegation from the University of Tsukuba, Japan, with a reception ceremony presided over by Associate Professor Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of KKU. The event was joined by Associate Professor Nawarat Wara-asawapati, D.D.S., D.M.Sc., Vice President for International Affairs; Assistant Professor Acharawan Topark-Ngarm, Ph.D., Assistant to the President for International Affairs; and administrators from the Faculty of Education, namely Associate Professor Issara Kanjak, Ph.D. Dean of the Faculty of Education. The visiting group of three staff members and five students were led by Professor Fujita Teruyuki of the Institute of Human Sciences from the University of Tsukuba.

    The visit aimed at discussing and sharing ideas on academic collaboration under the existing Memorandum of Understanding and the CAMPUS-ASIA 6 (CA6) programme-an international educational cooperation to raise students into world citizens through cross-cultural learning and academic exchange. It focuses on the development of international competence, intercultural understanding, and collaborative experience that prepares students for active participation in a globally interconnected world.

    Afterwards, during the reception, President Charnchai Panthongviriyakul expressed his pleasure in being able to welcome the Japanese delegation and emphasized how highly strategic it was to strengthen international academic cooperation. He said that the CAMPUS-Asia 6 program would be an important means to help develop students through cross-cultural learning, to develop their global competencies, and to increase their development as responsible global citizens.

    The President assured them that KKU was committed to sustaining and extending its partnership with the University of Tsukuba at all levels: teaching, research, and the exchange of students and personnel, for the larger objectives of uplifting quality in education and fostering a sustainable international academic network.

    The attendees: Professor Fujita Teruyuki, Associate Professor Hirai Yusuke, Assistant Professor Furuta Yuichi, and academic staff of KKU’s Faculty of Education, reported on the progress of the CAMPUS-Asia 6 project. This event dealt with the implementation of student exchange activities for the 2025-2026 academic year and considered opportunities for future collaboration related to the development of curricula, joint research work, and possible double degree programmes.

    This visit marks an important step in the continuing collaboration between Khon Kaen University and the University of Tsukuba for the benefit of both universities' students through international learning experiences, knowledge, skills, and intercultural competencies that will help the students cope with a highly globalized world. Through continual cooperation, the universities seek to develop students' understanding of multiculturalism, strengthen academic excellence, and prepare them for meaningful engagement as global citizens in the 21st century.
