KSU and DOLE Partner to Boost Student Career Education

    • KSU and DOLE signed a partnership to boost student employability.
    • A Job Placement Office (JPO) will connect students with employers.
    • Programs will include career guidance, internships, and skills development.

Kalinga State University (KSU) has teamed up with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) to give students and graduates stronger opportunities to build careers and gain real world experience.

The partnership was sealed in Baguio City with the signing of a memorandum of agreement. Under this deal, KSU’s Job Placement Office (JPO) has been accredited as a localized Public Employment Service Office (PESO), creating a direct bridge between the university and the labor market.

Through the JPO, students, alumni, and jobseekers will gain access to services such as career guidance, job referrals, and on-campus job fairs. It will also connect them with employers through engagement activities. Beyond this, the office will support youth employment programs like the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) and provide practical opportunities through internships, apprenticeships, and hands on training.

KSU President Dr. Joy Grace Doctor described the collaboration as more than just an agreement. She said it is a pledge to help young people in Kalinga pursue growth and a brighter future.

Doctor also noted that the university regularly updates its curriculum to match industry needs. By aligning courses with evolving labor market demands, KSU ensures graduates leave with the skills and competencies employers’ value most.

This initiative highlights the university’s role not only in education but also in preparing students for meaningful employment in a fast changing world.
