Maharashtra Govt Partners With Cambridge For Education

    • Maharashtra govt inks MoU with Cambridge University Press & Assessment India to revamp school education system.
    • Partnership to cover curriculum design, teacher training, climate education, and digital learning aligned with NEP.
    • CM Devendra Fadnavis calls it a milestone, ensuring globally employable, skilled, and confident students.

    The state government has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Cambridge University Press & Assessment India. The initiative will introduce international-level expertise in curriculum design, teachers' training, climate education, and innovative practices to the state's educational system, officials added.

    The deal, which was sealed in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, was inked by Ranjit Singh Deol, principal secretary, school education department, and Rod Smith, managing director, Cambridge International Education.

    "Since the launch of the National Education Policy (NEP), the state had been on a mission to give students access to top-notch learning facilities. By integrating Cambridge's experience with the state's large education base,Maharashtra would be capable of offering enormous advantages to students", stated Fadnavis.

    He further emphasized that the MoU was just the starting point of a bigger journey and promised to personally monitor its implementation. Pankaj Bhoir, minister of state for school education, said, "The move will have a paradigmatic impact on creating the students of the future and building a generation of entrepreneurial and leadership-capable youth". He clarified that the tie-up would not be limited to enhancing exam scores but also to making students confident, skilled, and globally employable.

    The MoU foresees far-reaching cooperation in curriculum transformation, library and resource creation, teacher capacity development, and open schooling. Cambridge will offer internationally accredited teacher education programmes, such as qualifications like CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults) and IKYI, together with K-12 learning materials, textbooks, and digital content based on the NEP and Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) models.

    Special programs such as 'Climate Quest' for climate awareness and pre-primary learning modules will also be launched. Also, the association will promote digital literacy, ICT-based learning, life skills, and values education in state and aided schools. Smith was proud to be coming together with Maharashtra and referred to the agreement as an institution's honour.
