The Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA) brought its scholarship roadshow to the University of the Philippines Los Banos (UPLB) inviting students to explore careers in space science and technology. The two-day event aimed to inspire young Filipinos to join the country’s growing space sector through advanced education opportunities.
Officials introduced key programs, including the AD ASTRA Scholarships Program and the Fulbright-PhilSA Award in Space Science and Technology Applications. The sessions explained eligibility, application steps, and financial benefits. Students also learned about research grants and global exposure available under the programs.
UPLB supported the event by presenting its graduate courses aligned with space science and technology. Faculty members outlined academic pathways for students interested in research and innovation in the space field.

During the event, Angeline Macasinag, an AD ASTRA scholar-graduate, shared her experience studying Biology of Extreme Environments in Italy. Her research examined pigment-producing bacteria under simulated Mars conditions and their role in understanding habitability. She also spoke about attending international conferences and accessing research support through the scholarship.
Since launching in 2021, the AD ASTRA program has supported Filipino scholars pursuing postgraduate studies locally and abroad. So far, 12 scholars have completed their degrees and now contribute to national space development efforts.
