The 196th Submarine Regiment of the Vietnam Navy launched its 2026 training program this morning, demonstrating a strong commitment to enhancing combat readiness and operational skills. The regiment, established in 2013, operates modern Kilo 636.1-class submarines, playing a vital role in securing Vietnam’s maritime sovereignty.
Rear Admiral Hoang Luong Ngoc, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Navy, praised the regiment’s 2025 achievements and called for continued innovation in training methods. He emphasized practical, realistic exercises that combine technical mastery, political education, and psychological resilience. The regiment is set to focus on complex, coordinated training to improve mobility, readiness, and the ability to handle unexpected situations effectively.
The ceremony also marked the launch of a high-intensity emulation campaign under the theme 'Excellent training, safety, mastery, regularity, and modernity'. Officials and unit representatives signed emulation agreements to reinforce their commitment to excellence. Following the formalities, the regiment held a parade, showcased equipment and training models, and commenced its first day of rigorous exercises.
