Cebu Pacific has partnered in launching Women in Aviation International - Philippines (WAI-PH), the country’s first organization dedicated to empowering women in aviation. The initiative aims to support aspiring female aviators through mentorship, scholarships, and career building opportunities.
WAI-PH is the local chapter of Women in Aviation International (WAI), a global nonprofit with over 20,000 members. Its mission is to inspire and connect women in all areas of aviation, from pilots and engineers to maintenance and cabin crew.
The launch event, supported by Cebu Pacific’s Engineering and Fleet Management, the People Department, and founding members like Aplus and Airlink Aviation College, also celebrated Girls in Aviation Day. Young Filipinas were invited to explore aircraft, attend hands-on workshops, and hear from women professionals already shaping the skies.
Shevantha Weerasekera, VP for Engineering and Fleet Management., said,“Cebu Pacific believes in equal opportunities”. She added, “This program allows us to invest in the future workforce of aviation while promoting gender inclusion”.

WAI-PH plans to expand nationwide by working with more aviation schools, airlines, and MROs. Its goal is to create a diverse and skilled pipeline of women ready for careers in the fast evolving aviation industry.
By focusing on skills development, industry exposure, and education, Cebu Pacific and WAI-PH are preparing the next generation of female talent to lead in aviation , both in the cockpit and beyond.
