Anthropic Opens Korea Hub To Drive AI Hiring And Growth

    • Anthropic to open Korea office in early 2026 in Seoul’s Gangnam, making it the company’s third Asia-Pacific base after India and Japan.

    Anthropic, a global AI research and development corporations that developed the artificial intelligence (AI) model 'Claude', said on the 24th it will open a Korea office in Seoul’s Gangnam in early 2026. Korea will become Anthropic’s third major base in the Asia-Pacific region after India and Japan.

    By expanding into Korea, Anthropic aims to recruit local human talent, deepen collaboration with local Start-Up and giant corporations, and make earnest contributions to establishing Korea's AI innovation ecosystem. Senior company executives will fly in next week to meet local client corporations and partner corporations to exchange ideas on how to collaborate to make Korea one of the 'top three AI powers'.

    Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei stated, "Korea is at the forefront of AI innovation in Asia, and Claude is already widely utilized", and continued, "We will partner with affiliate companies in Korea, where there is a world-class tech ecosystem, to unlock the limitless possibilities of AI".

    Korea ranks among the top five most active uses of Claude in the world, both in terms of overall usage and per capita, as per Anthropic's figures. Furthermore, monthly active users (MAU) of AI coding tool 'Claude Code' grew six times in the last four months, and it also discovered that Korean developers utilize Claude Code the most globally.

    With the launch of this office, Anthropic intends to develop a Korea market-specific organization. It has already hired a head to manage collaboration with the local Start - Up ecosystem and will recruit more staff, a Korea country manager among them.

    The 'Claude for Startups' project, which is being executed to help Korea's Start-Up and corporate environment, is also showing a good response in the domestic market. For instance, legal tech Start-Up Law&Company utilized Claude to optimize legal processes, increasing work efficiency by 1.7 times.

    Cooperation with big domestic companies is also being sustained as an example. SK Telecom has collaborated with Anthropic to create a multilingual AI customer support model for over 10 million customers.

    Anthropic chief commercial officer (CCO) Paul Smith stated, "Korean companies already possess world-class AI usage capabilities in advanced coding and business application areas", and continued, "Through the Korea office, we will extend support customized according to the varied demands of companies and Start-Up".

    Anthropic has over 300,000 corporate corporations worldwide, and roughly 80% of consumer Claude usage takes place outside the United States. Korean users are able to use Claude in different environments like the Anthropic API, Amazon Bedrock, and Google Cloud Vertex AI.

    With the launch of the Korea office, Anthropic will further enhance collaboration with the local AI ecosystem, policymakers, and government institutions, supporting Korea's ambition to be an AI global leader.
