Google is strengthening its research and development presence in Singapore as it increases investment in artificial intelligence. The company announced plans to expand its teams across software engineering, user experience design, research science, and cloud engineering.
The move follows the launch of the Google DeepMind Research Lab in Singapore last year. Google said it aims to build solutions in partnership with Singapore to address local challenges and create new growth opportunities.
As part of the expansion, Google introduced the Google Cloud Singapore Engineering Center. The hub will bring together engineers and support teams to work closely with businesses in sectors such as robotics and clean energy. By placing engineers near the DeepMind lab, the company expects to speed up the process of turning research into real-world products.

In addition, the company unveiled an AI Centre of Excellence for Security to advance research in AI safety, privacy, and emerging digital threats.
Officials said the expansion will create new job opportunities and strengthen Singapore’s position as a regional technology and AI talent hub.
