ILO-Korea Project Targets Youth Skills in ASEAN Construction Sector

    The International Labour Organization (ILO), in partnership with the Government of the Republic of Korea, is set to launch a transformative project aimed at promoting environmental sustainability and strengthening youth employability through green and digital skill development in the construction sector across the ASEAN region.

    Under the ILO/Korea Partnership Programme, the initiative will focus on equipping young people with future-ready skills to support the ongoing digital and green transformation of the construction industry. The project aims to bridge the skills gap, empower youth, and contribute to sustainable development goals by aligning workforce capabilities with evolving industry needs.

    The launch event is scheduled for Thursday, 26 June 2025, at 9:00 a.m. in Manila. Organized in collaboration with the Embassy of Korea in the Philippines, the event will unveil the project’s objectives, implementation strategy, and expected outcomes. It will also foster dialogue with key stakeholders to ensure effective collaboration.

    The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) will deliver the keynote address, emphasizing the importance of workforce development in light of the construction sector’s changing landscape. Representatives from the ILO, ASEAN Constructors’ Federation (ACF), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Philippine Constructors Association (PCA), and Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (TUCP) will also speak at the event.
