PolyU, Xi'an University Launch Joint Patriotic Education Base

    • PolyU and Xi’an Jiaotong University launch a joint education base to deepen academic cooperation.
    • Platform to support student exchanges and skills- and culture-focused learning.
    • Focus on teaching resources, educator training, and career readiness.

Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) has launched a Patriotic Education Base in partnership with Xi’an Jiaotong University, strengthening academic and cultural cooperation between Hong Kong and mainland China.

The base will serve as an education and exchange platform for students and educators from Hong Kong and Xi’an, the capital of Shaanxi province. The Hong Kong facility will act as the headquarters, while a similar platform was established in Xi’an last year. Together, the two centers aim to deepen collaboration in education, skills development, and cultural learning.

The initiative will focus on developing teaching materials, training teachers, and organizing public forums and seminars. These activities are designed to help students better understand Chinese history, culture, and national development, while also building skills that support future study and career opportunities.

Xi’an, one of China’s four ancient capitals, has a long history as a hub of learning and innovation. By connecting institutions in Hong Kong and Xi’an, the platform promotes cross-regional learning, wider academic exposure, and stronger career pathways for students.

At the launch event, PolyU Council Chairman Lam Tai-fai said the project reflects the deepening partnership between the two universities. He added that the base aims to develop socially responsible and nationally aware graduates who can contribute to society and long-term national growth.

The initiative highlights the role of universities in talent development, cultural education, and building stronger regional connections in a changing job market.
